Just acquired: Aboriginal Australian chessmen. I'd say it's a proto-ACF set, which the Australian Comforts Fund distributed to Australian armed forces in both world wars. Not my usual Staunton tournament set, but a compelling design. I wonder if our Australian friends in particular have any insights.
