Robert James"Bobby" Fischer
The eleventh world chess champion, arguably one the greatest chess geniuses of all time.
On January 17, 2008, Fischer died at age 64 (the total squares of the board) from renal failure at the Landspítali Hospital (National University Hospital of Iceland) in Reykjavík. He had been suffering from degenerative renal failure.
